Food Addiction…really that’s why you’ve gained weight??
Most likely you are not a food addict.
Technically we all are sort of addicted to food and feel like we have to have it because truthfully we all need it to survive everyday anyways, but is that a true medical addiction or disease making us gain too much bodyfat?? Doubtful.
Maybe the truth is we are addicted to bad food choices and inactivity? Junk foods and laziness maybe?? Late night bad foods and 4 hours of binge watching on-demand shows??
There’s a rare few who actually have a true food addiction in which they cannot stop eating continuously every few minutes. Even then they could only gain so much body fat if choosing healthy food options and staying active to combat this urges.
Those that claim their excess bodyfat is from food addiction are most likely not a food addict. You’ve quit when you want, you’ve most likely lost weight before, you dated in shape but got your spouse then let loose, you go all day with no food but choose to eat way too much right before bed, you were in shape until you turned 35 and got too busy with your career, you skip meals and snacks thru the day substituting those with energy drinks, sodas, or fattening coffees, you’re just lazy and inactive, and more…that’s not true addiction, those are choices.
Real addiction is serious and would imply you’d have to be eating every few minutes uncontrollably and need a doctors help, rehab, or intensive counseling. Over 24 yrs I’ve worked with many people who thought they were true food addicts and that was their excuse but it wasn’t true. They went to the most expensive and fanciest weight loss clinics, Ranches, and luxury facilities only to get on track and focused in a few days, weeks, or month and never once did they turn out to have serious medical behaviors, addiction, or disease.
Using the excuse of food addiction can be offensive to true addicts who suffer with a disease they seriously struggle to control in regards to drugs, alcohol, etc.
Make sure you know the difference and stop making excuses if it’s just your poor nutrition choices and lack of healthy activity and exercise.
Stop with the excuses, start making the right choices, and begin feeling better now!
