Hemorrhoids and Exercise…yea I know?!
I know it’s odd and uncomfortable to discuss but hey I’m known to be the trainer who’s been training people since the 1990’s and is very direct and honest. I usually talk about the stuff most people don’t or won’t. After working with thousands of clients, speaking to tens of thousands, and writing for millions I’ve gotten a lot of feedback, had tons of honest discussions and seen and heard way too many horror stories.
I’ll always be honest and explain what’s really going on in training, nutrition, accountability, rest/recovery etc. Too many people hire inexperienced trainers and coaches or find a plan online that is not safe, effective or appropriate for them and they end up getting hurt.
One of the common complaints new clients tell me they had when working out with other inexperienced trainers or coaches is that they get pushed way too hard, way too soon. Overtraining or even over-doing-it too fast leads to a lower immune system, a stressed central nervous system, injury, pains, aches, hernias, and yes much more common than people think…”hemorrhoids”.
The human body has to adjust. We have to acclimate to stress and cannot just be bombarded all of a sudden or there is hell to pay inside and outside our body.
Too many people who have been doing absolutely nothing for weeks, months, or years all of a sudden get impulsive and go overboard over-training or their trainer or coach pushes them way past what they should be doing. “All or nuthin” or going “zero to 60” are terrible ideas!
The best approach when you’ve been stagnant or lazy for a while is to ease back into training. Do a little, rest/recover appropriately, then next time do a little more. Never go all-out too soon!
