Lifting Weights Does Not Stunt Growth in Kids

Lifting weights does NOT stunt growth! My two oldest boys are good examples of this as they have been working out since they were 2 years old (their choice).
Strength/resistance training is healthy for kids and even lifting heavier weights with proper form and a good foundation of strength isn’t dangerous.

Ive said this before, it’s safer to lift some free weights or use machines than it was for my coaches to have me as an obese toddler/teenager do pull-ups, sit-ups, and pushups which all stressed my joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles, and bones way more than healthy strength training.

My 10 yr old Matt is bench pressing 215 pounds for 5 partial reps now all on his own wishes.

There is no science or literature (only opinions) that strength training stunts growth in kids. I’ve been training my kids and tons of youth for 25 yrs as a Personal Trainer and never have seen negative issues or problems. Strength training for kids helps control weight, prevent Obesity, manage blood pressure, regulate cholesterol, improve strength, makes kids faster, builds endurance, lowers depression, relieves stress, and much more!!
